Tahai Ceremonial Complex

It is the most famous archaeological complex on the island, as it is located about 15 minutes walk from Hanga Roa. It is therefore easily accessible and is one of the best places to watch the sunset over the Pacific. It is composed of 3 Ahu: Ahu Tahai: Made of a single moai, it is also the oldest statue of the island. With a height of 4.5 meters, its name means "where the sun sets" in Rapa Nui. Ahu Ko Te Riku: Also a solitary moai, but complete with original elements and especially the only one restored with white and red coral eyes. Ahu Vai Ure: The most photographic site. Made up of 5 moai turned back to the sea, on a platform, its name means "dark water" in Rapa Nui. Its particularity is that the sun sets through the statues.
