Puno and the Titicaca lake

The sourrounding region of the Titicaca lake, from Peru to Bolivia, is also known as the Altiplano. These are desert expanses located at an altitude of over 12400 feet, the inhabitants suffer from cold, drought, arid winds, and are often very poor.
