Ahu Tongariki

Ahu Tongariki is one of the most important places on the island. This platform multiplies the superlatives. Indeed, it includes an alignment of 15 Moaïs on 100m long, which makes it the most important of the island. The set includes a complete statue with its Pukao (the bun), but also the most imposing statue of the island with a weight of 86 tons. Partially destroyed during the violent history of the island, then damaged by the tsunami of 1960, the platform was restored by a group of archaeologists in the 1990s.
