Ranu Kao

Ranu Kao is one of the main volcanoes of Rapa Nui, the closest to Anga Roa. It has a freshwater lake in its crater, where reeds grow, the "totora". Opposite the volcano are the inhabitable islets of Motu Kau Kau, Motu Iti and Motu Nui. On the rim of the crater is the site of Orongo, an important archaeological site on the island.
