Vaihu Vaihu

Vaihu

Vaihu, is a large Ahu of Rapa Nui, which has been left as is, not restored. All the Moaïs are thus lying or semi-buried, representing well the island's tumultuous past and the struggle between clans that led to the destruction of the Moaïs, or huri moai. We also find the red tufa headdresses, some of which have rolled towards the ocean. Finally, the platform includes a ceremonial stone circle, which, along with the ocean, gives the site its majesty.
